Her Presence

I hopped five steps across the board.
I stood there looking
At the square that maybe would take me to jail.
I just needed the dice to settle
At more than eleven.
Instead I rolled two ones (darn
It!).
I hopped two steps down
And mistakenly landed
On the normal emoji toys.

I sleepily kept moving
And rolling my tiny dice.
I’d barely land and pass
Each neatly patterned cell.
One filled with candy crisps.
Another filled with fluffy materials.
I’d pass the moments with laughter;
Imagined?
I’d draw cards with riddles written
On them, but no one
Answered my questions.
I couldn’t see the end of this board game
I’m stuck in.

I heard someone give me a suggestion.
I peered over my shoulder to see
If it had been her, then wondered
If it had been an essence
I frankly created, to not be disappointed.
